The story
From Cocoa Beach to the 850.
Cocoa Beach origins
Nav City Surf is the culmination of a lifelong passion for surfing, craftsmanship, and coastal living. My surfing journey began in high school after moving to Orlando, Florida, where I spent countless days chasing waves at Cocoa Beach Pier and 16th Street. Those early sessions sparked a love for surfing that would stay with me for decades.
Reignited at Hurlburt
After joining the military, much of my career took me far from the ocean, serving primarily in inland locations. It wasn't until I was stationed at Hurlburt Field, Florida, that my passion for surfing was reignited. With the Gulf Coast's beautiful beaches and consistent surf, I found myself back in the water and reconnecting with the lifestyle I had missed.
Self-taught in the garage → Nav City
As a self-taught garage surfboard shaper, I began building boards for myself, learning through trial, error, and a dedication to understanding what makes a board perform. What started as a hobby quickly grew into an obsession with creating unique, handcrafted boards tailored to individual surfers and local conditions. Today, after retiring from military service, I've chosen to call Navarre "Nav City" home and dedicate my time to the things I love most — surfing these waters and building fully custom boards. Whether it's crafting a one-of-a-kind board from the ground up or bringing a damaged board back to life, every board tells a story — and I'd be honored to help create yours.
